Job summary

Mechancial Engineering Graduate Programme at Babcock is based at HM Naval Base Clyde in Scotland. You’ll rotate across engineering projects over two years, gaining experience from design to in-service support and decommissioning.

You’ll need a BEng or MEng in mechanical-related field and be able to obtain BPSS and SC clearance; the entry salary starts at £35,000 with a hybrid work arrangement and opportunities to progress to Senior Engineer roles.

Qualifications

• Requires a BEng or MEng in Mechanical, Structural, Motorsport, Materials, Mechatronics, Engine Systems, Welding, Automotive, or AeroMechanical.
• Must be able to obtain BPSS and Security Check (SC) clearance.
• UK national status may apply due to national security considerations.

Responsibilities

• Join the two-year programme and rotate through placements every 3–6 months to gain diverse project experience.
• Contribute to design reviews, stress analyses, and integration of mechanical systems on major platforms.
• Develop leadership, project management and specialist engineering capabilities for future roles.
