Job Description

Job Title: Measurement Engineer

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Shift: (MON-THU) 6 AM - 2 PM OR (MON-THU) 2 PM - 9:30 PM; Friday 6 AM - 12 PM or 12 PM - 6 PM

The Measurement Engineer is responsible for ensuring that Rolls-Royce has fit-for-purpose measurement capabilities for our products to meet business, customer, and regulatory requirements. You will apply and fit instrumentation to test vehicles and rigs, supporting engine and rig test knowledge in a hands-on, non-repetitive role.

Instrumentation includes thermocouples, pressure tapping, metal temps, and strain gauges. The role is primarily based within the Measurement Engineering Laboratory, with some tasks requiring work at Module Build and Test Beds within ET&S Civil Aerospace Engineering Operations.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Marking out and fitting instrumentation in defined locations on components, modules, and engines, including securing cables or tube lead outs.
  • Interpreting technical instructions and obtaining information from drawings, sketches, design schemes, manuals, and standards.
  • Manufacturing and installing strain gauges, thermocouples, etc.
  • Supporting Engineering Operations Modules and Engine build by leading out and repairing damaged instruments.
  • Developing new or improved application techniques.
  • Raising non-conformance issues within quality systems.
  • Implementing risk management and applying HSE policies during operations.
  • Working to meet deadlines and performance targets.
  • Supporting graduate programs and collaborating on projects across RR sites and abroad, including flight programs.
  • Working with measurement specialists and development engineers to develop practical instrumentation methods.
  • Supporting electronics and telemetry teams with practical knowledge to modify and update test support equipment.
Who We're Looking For:
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent, or technician qualification.
  • Experience with electrical equipment and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Instrumentation application or manufacturing experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to develop new skills and undertake training.
  • Knowledge of lean principles and process basics.
  • Problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.
