Job summary

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager for Meadowbrook Unit in Salford. You will lead shifts, act as primary nurse for service users and carers, and ensure high‑quality, patient‑centred care with clinical leadership across a large MDT.

You will support staff development, conduct supervision and training, and deputise for the Ward Manager while driving safety and risk management in a complex setting.

Qualifications

• Evidence of substantial post‑qualification experience of working with people with severe mental illness.
• Current UK professional registration in Mental Health Nursing (NMC/UK equivalent).
• Experience leading a large multidisciplinary team in an acute mental health setting.

Responsibilities

• Take charge of shifts on a rotational basis and act as primary nurse for service users and carers.
• Lead on communication with internal and external colleagues to ensure safe, high‑quality care.
• Provide on‑the‑job coaching, supervision, and ward staff development in partnership with the Ward Manager.
• Deputise for the Ward Manager and promote multidisciplinary teamwork and leadership.
