Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Cancer Services for a Band 3 Assistant MDT Coordinator. This person will take a lead role in ensuring the effective tracking of patients on suspected cancer pathways and working with clinical teams to ensure all patients referred to NBT with suspected cancer receive an exceptional level of service within the national cancer waiting timeframes.

Main duties of the job

  • To track patients on a cancer pathway and escalate issues to the Cancer Performance Manager/Cancer Support Manager where directed.
  • To identify patients that are about to exceed deadlines for data collection and rectify any missing data where necessary.
  • To notify the relevant staff of patients whose missing data is likely to cause the deadlines for data collection to be exceeded.
  • To provide timely and accurate information for patient tracking meetings (PTL)
  • Work flexibly as part of a team to cover for annual leave and sickness
  • Work within base at Southmead.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the tracking of patients referred to the Trust on a cancer pathway ensuring Cancer Waiting Times Standards are met. You will be responsible for escalating any potential delays to the relevant Specialties and Cancer Performance Manager. The role will be complex and challenging but varied and requires excellent communication skills. The candidate must have good organisational skills, the ability to use own initiative, the ability to show attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure. You will be required to maintain accurate data and have a keen eye for detail.

You must enjoy working in a busy environment and be able to prioritise your own workload. You will need good interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team, be IT literate, and able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
