Description

Position Overview

Assist overseeing the RAI-MDS 2.0 process and ensures quality outcomes by monitoring CIHI reports and resident care. This role is responsible for assisting the Quality Lead in documentation, coaching, mentoring, and educating staff on compliance, quality improvement, and restorative care practices.

  • Supporting assessment audits, documentation and providing assistance to frontline staff as needed.
  • Responsible for an overview of Informatics on Quality Improvement and RAI-MDS 2.0 process of new staff or students.
  • Responsible for education and software training to all appropriate staff members on RAI-MDS 2.0, RAPS, subscale outcome measures, quality indicators, and reports.
  • Working in consultation with management and interdisciplinary team members to develop processes that ensure data integrity, efficient data collection process, assessment completion and data utilization.
  • Establishing data quality processes to evaluate MDS coding accuracy and its timely completion.
  • Required to understand the nature and meaning of quality indicators used by the Home and to understand which indicators are publicly reported.
  • Co-ordinates the data submission process to Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI).
  • Supports the lead of the Nursing Restorative program in the home.
  • Orientates new staff to the philosophy, policy and criteria of Nursing Restorative Care.
  • Mentors and coaches the Nursing Restorative Therapists.
  • Interprets legislative requirements to the nursing team and monitors compliance to standards through continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Counsels staff in areas of non-compliance, inappropriate and unprofessional behaviour.
  • Participates in and implements learning which develops one’s own emotional self-awareness and a person-centred approach towards others.
  • Presents a positive approach, not controlling language and actions towards people.
  • Any and all other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Registered health professional licensed under the Health Disciplines Act registered with a regulatory authority in a Canadian jurisdiction, other than Ontario, and holds in that jurisdiction the equivalent of a certificate of registration authorizing independent practice in Ontario as of right exemption Bill 60.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with adult education strategies/facilitation.
  • Ability to identify training needs of the team and individuals.
  • Proficient computer skills and strong problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to work with and relate to interdisciplinary team members and other internal stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of RAI-MDS – AIS certified as RAI Educator preferred.
  • Skills and knowledge in trending and analyzing data.
  • Knowledge of Quality Improvement.
  • Experience in a long term care setting.
  • Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB test results less than 6 months old, must be able to provide three supervisory references.
