Job summary

Longlands Primary School in Sidcup is seeking a caring Play Team Member/Midday Supervisor to support pupils at lunchtime and during play. The role also contributes to our OPAL outdoor learning provision and the overall positive play environment.

You will help create a safe, inclusive space, build positive relationships with children and staff, and uphold high standards of behaviour. This temporary post ends 22 July 2027; DBS checks and English language requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a school or care setting is desirable.
• Ability to support pupils during lunchtime and playtime.
• Strong communication with children and colleagues.
• Calm, patient and consistent in managing behaviour.
• Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive environment for all pupils.
• Willingness to contribute to OPAL outdoor learning provision.

We are looking for an approachable and confident individual to join our team and support pupils during their lunchtime meal break. The successful candidate will also play an important role in supporting our Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) provision. OPAL is an innovative approach to play that aims to provide children with rich, varied and engaging opportunities to play, explore and develop their independence.

This is a crucial role in the life of our school. We are seeking someone who understands the importance of positive relationships and can manage pupils in a calm, consistent and positive manner. You will help create an environment where children feel safe, secure and valued, while also promoting and maintaining the high standards of behaviour expected across our school.
