Our Story

Manchester City Women is an English football club initially founded by City in the Community in 1988. Relaunched through a formal partnership with Manchester City FC, MCWFC entered the FA Women’s Super League and professionalised in 2014. The team has achieved success in the FAWSL, Women’s FA Cup, and Continental Tyres League Cup, and regularly competes in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The team plays its home fixtures at Joie Stadium, a 7,000-capacity arena located on the Etihad Campus, which also includes the City Football Academy, a state-of-the-art training and development facility for all Manchester City teams.

We are seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking practitioner to assist in planning, delivering, and reviewing integrated physical performance support across the Manchester City Women’s Football Club (MCWFC) pathway, aligned with the academy performance services strategy. This role is vital in ensuring players at every stage develop the physical attributes necessary for progression and elite performance.

You will lead the physical development of the U12 and U14 squads, including planning, delivery, and review of physical performance plans, monitoring internal and external load, and ensuring on-pitch training meets the demands of future elite performance.

Your Impact

1. Integrated & Individual Strength & Conditioning

- Responsible for planning, delivering, and reviewing evidence-informed strength & conditioning programs (on/off-pitch) that maximize individual and group physical development, aligned with the MCFC Performance Services strategy.

- Implement age & stage-specific S&C programming and coaching for teams and individuals.

- Collaborate with coaches to design and deliver representative on-pitch training practices that achieve technical, tactical, and physical outcomes.

- Work with injury management teams to deliver S&C programs supporting return-to-play and rehabilitation of long-term injuries.

- Plan, deliver, and review pathway monitoring processes, including growth & maturation, physical profiling, workload monitoring, neuromuscular state, and wellness.

3. Educational Content Delivery

  • Deliver educational curricula to develop players' knowledge, skills, and behaviors related to physical preparation, performance, and recovery for elite women’s football.

What we are looking for

Essential Qualifications

  • BSc in Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning, or related field.
  • Working towards UKSCA Accreditation or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a sporting environment.
  • Understanding of working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience developing and delivering physical development programs for objective performance impact.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with players, coaches, and the wider MDT.
  • Reflective and adaptable practice.
  • Ability to utilize performance data to inform practice.
  • Experience in professional sport.
  • Experience working with female athletes or in women’s sport.
  • BASES accreditation.
  • UKSCA accreditation or equivalent.
  • Experience contributing to injury rehabilitation and return-to-play programs.
  • Postgraduate qualification (e.g., MSc) in Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning, or related area.
