Job Overview

To provide expert care, highly specialist advice, and support to patients with Lung Cancer and their carers. The post holder is expected to provide clinical leadership within this area of care to develop education and research relevant to the specialty.

This post will work with the multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive service to patients with Lung Cancer.

The post holder will provide highly specialist nursing knowledge and expertise on various aspects of Lung Cancer care.

The post holder will have a major role in developing Lung Cancer services to meet patient needs and align with the NHS plan.

The post holder will act as the key worker, liaising with other healthcare professionals, including the Primary Healthcare Team, to ensure optimal care from diagnosis to treatment.

Main duties of the job
  • Lead and carry out assessment, planning, and implementation of care programs for lung cancer patients, providing support and guidance.
  • Utilize expert knowledge to analyze and make decisions regarding patient risk and care in complex cases.
  • Communicate sensitive, condition-related information empathetically to patients.
  • Perform clinical skills such as removing sutures following thoracoscopy, administering intramuscular injections, and venipuncture.
  • Lead workload and workforce resource management.
  • Provide strong leadership in Lung Cancer care delivery.
