Job description

Social network you want to login/join with:

- Are you a systems-thinker?
- Does solving complex problems using MBSE interest you?
- Would you thrive in a collaborative environment?
- Do you want to apply your skills to a complex problem domain?

Then we want to speak to you.

We are recruiting for several Model Based Systems Engineering roles, where you will work on real engineering problems, designing and developing solutions central to our products.

Your work may be exploited into:

  • The technology development platforms being developed by the UK’s Team Tempest to support the development of a new 6th generation aircraft within the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP).
  • Concept demonstrators for future Electronic Warfare technologies and systems.
  • Air Platform Protection systems for export customer aircraft.

The division researches, designs, develops, and builds complex electronic systems, products, and services for the global defence market, from research to in-service.

Depending on the role and project phase, roles may offer hybrid working options, with some requiring on-site presence. Contact us to learn more.

What you’ll do as a Systems Engineer using MBSE:

Our Systems Engineers work in multidisciplinary teams on activities that integrate engineering and technology into high-performance systems. You will bridge the gap between theoretical possibilities and practical implementations.

We are recruiting from various backgrounds and skillsets. Based on your skills and knowledge, we will assess the best fit and discuss options with you.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Performing use case analysis for requirements derivation based on operational scenarios.
  • Undertaking top-down system design, exploring architectural options, and conducting trade-off studies.
  • Developing system requirements and translating them into subsystem requirements and interface definitions.
  • Participating in technical meetings with internal and external stakeholders to agree on solutions.
  • Collaborating with implementation and verification teams to ensure system compliance.
  • Planning demonstrations and trials.
  • Providing technical reports and recommendations for delivery to customers and partners.
  • Depending on experience, leading technical activities or mentoring engineers.
  • Supporting knowledge sharing and best practices.

What we need from you:

Ideally, you hold a science-based Honours degree or equivalent experience, with industry or academic research background. No prior electronic warfare domain knowledge is necessary, as support is provided. We seek systems engineers with MBSE experience to develop through training, teamwork, and mentoring.

We are interested if you have experience in:

  • Systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Engineering gate reviews and design compliance assessment.
  • Applying MBSE methods to complex challenges.
  • Requirements elicitation, negotiation, and definition.
  • Awareness of agile methodologies.
  • Numerical and analytical skills.
  • Managing complex designs and uncertainties.
  • Supporting design and delivery of technical solutions.
  • Problem-solving and motivation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Working with stakeholders at various levels.
