Salary: NJC Grade 10, starting from £37,938

Role Overview

Join the Mayoral & Communications team to deliver high-impact communications on behalf of the Mayor, CPCA, and Business Board. You’ll be instrumental in raising awareness of major investment, housing, transport, skills, and climate initiatives across the region.

This role sits within the Chief Executive’s Office Directorate and reports directly to the Media and Mayoral Support Manager. The post provides key support to both the Communications and Mayor’s Office departments

What you'll be doing:

  • You will create and deliver timely impactful, proactive and reactive media content and briefings.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the press office communications grid.
  • Organise and accompany the Mayor to appropriate external engagements, ensuring effective media management.
  • Create and develop social media assets, including processing and editing event photography, subtitling videos and creating and editing images and graphics for publication.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Experience in public relations, media management or other related subject area.
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining positive relationships with media outlets, reporters, and journalists.
  • Excellent writing skills, demonstrating a journalistic approach to storytelling and ability to adapt copy for a range of audiences and channels.
