Job description

Venn Group's specialist Public Sector Legal division is pleased to support a reputable Local Government Authority in Yorkshire seeking to appoint an experienced Mayoral Caseworker on an interim basis, with the possibility of extension or permanent appointment. This is a full-time role, initially for 6 months, with office attendance expected 4-5 days a week. The rate is £20-£30 per hour (umbrella).

The ideal candidate will ensure that individuals contacting the Mayor receive a professional, high-level service.

Job Duties:
  1. Providing general administrative support to the Mayor, Delivery Lead, Chief Executive, and Mayoral Office.
  2. Leading on specific areas of work or projects on behalf of the Delivery Lead, Chief Executive, and Mayoral Office.
  3. Managing Mayoral casework by delivering high-quality responses to enquiries from the public, including:
    1. Logging, processing, and managing casework.
    2. Ensuring casework is properly logged and tracked.
    3. Conducting thorough investigations into cases related to HEYCA services and partners.
    4. Researching background details and conducting interviews with members of the public, HEYCA officers, and stakeholders.
    5. Preparing responses and implementing solutions.
    6. Evaluating cases and producing detailed responses.
    7. Following up on actions, keeping customers informed of progress, and explaining options if they are dissatisfied.
    8. Analyzing enquiry patterns and presenting findings in reports and communications with the Mayor and Chief Executive.
    9. Maintaining confidential records in compliance with data protection legislation.
    10. Assisting with mayoral meetings and follow-up activities.

The Authority is open to candidates with 1-2 years of experience in a political environment or administrative roles within a Local Authority.
