Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Theatre Practitioner to join the Maxillofacial Surgery team as a Surgical First Assistant, primarily based at University Hospital Aintree with links across the Maxillofacial service.

The role involves assisting in complex maxillofacial procedures, working with consultants and senior surgeons to deliver safe, high-quality peri-operative care in a dynamic surgical environment.

Qualifications

• Post-registration Surgical First Assistant skills course is required.
• Advanced life support certification is required.
• Evidence of leadership/management skills and MDT collaboration is expected.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up specialised Maxillofacial equipment and consumables for OMFS procedures.
• Assist surgeons during procedures with tissue retraction and haemostasis.
• Maintain aseptic technique and theatre safety standards.
• Operate OMFS instruments and powered devices during operations.
• Assist with wound closure and catheterisation as delegated.
