Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Theatre Practitioner to join the Maxillofacial Surgery team as a Surgical First Assistant, primarily based at University Hospital Aintree with close links across the wider Maxillofacial service. The role involves assisting in a broad range of complex surgical procedures, including facial trauma management and reconstructive work.

Qualifications

• Genuine post-holder will be registered and eligible to practise as a Theatre Practitioner in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up specialist Maxillofacial surgical equipment, instruments, implants and consumables for OMFS procedures.
• Support safe patient positioning, airway protection and surgical access.
• Assist surgeons during procedures with tissue retraction, haemostasis, suturing and drains as delegated.
• Operate specialised surgical equipment including diathermy, suction and endoscopic tools.
• Maintain aseptic technique and ensure theatre safety and infection prevention standards.
