Job summary

Circle Health Group Ltd seeks a Surgical First Assistant at Lancaster Hospital. This full-time role offers 37.5 hours per week with a flexible shift pattern and a salary up to £41,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Key duties include assisting the surgeon during operations, ensuring sterile technique and patient positioning, and supporting safe, compassionate care for patients and families throughout the perioperative journey.

Qualifications

• Registered healthcare professional (e.g. NMC or HCPC) with post-registration qualification as a Surgical First Assistant.
• Demonstrable perioperative experience and competence in surgical assistance tasks.
• Strong communication and team-oriented, patient-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled assistance to the surgeon during operations, including tissue retraction and haemostasis.
• Assist with safe patient positioning and sterile draping to maintain the surgical field.
• Support patients with dignity, empathy and respect throughout their theatre experience.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families pre- and post-operatively to ensure comfort.
