We are offering an exciting opportunity to work within the Trauma and Orthopaedics Directorate. Working alongside the Senior Matron and the Trauma and Orthopaedic Team, you will need to develop a close working relationship with Staff, Consultants, Departments, Directorates, and Trust Managers across the Multi-disciplinary Team. We are seeking an experienced healthcare professional to lead and develop the service and workforce to drive forward initiatives to enhance standards and transform practice. There will be a requirement to work across all UHD sites.

This role requires an NMC Registration.

Base Location: Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospital

Main duties of the job

To provide clinical and professional leadership to assigned clinical wards and departments and specialist nursing/midwifery teams ensuring that action is taken at all levels to empower nurses/midwives/AHPs to provide high standards of care in a safe environment.

The right candidate will be given opportunities to lead on areas such as:

• Monitoring of clinical standards

• Ensuring patient experience is of the highest quality
• Promoting best practice in the prevention of infection

• Ensuring the standardisation of services across all relevant areas to the best possible level, so that all patients experience equally high-quality care;
• Supporting the planning and managing services to ensure the best possible use of resources;
• Supporting the development of a sustainable safe workforce that is fit for the future within the area of responsibility;
• Ensuring services are delivered in a culture where patient safety, high clinical quality, service improvement, and financial accountability are paramount;
• Transformation of the service in line with UHD objectives.

Person specification

Qualifications

• 1st Level Registered nurse/Midwife/AHP on relevant part of the Register
• First degree or equivalent.

Experience

• Proven track record of operational management in the acute healthcare setting managing a ward/service/department, including staff, financial/budgetary, and change management.
• Experience in the acute healthcare setting in clinical leadership/clinical management position.

Knowledge

• Extensive knowledge of National and Local NHS care and N&M agenda.
• Highly developed specialist knowledge for field of practice, underpinned by theory and experience.
