Job summary

EPUT is seeking an experienced senior manager to provide operational leadership for a designated area of the Mental Health Service. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, maintain high clinical standards, manage budgets, and drive service improvement within a strong governance framework.

You will ensure care planning and evaluation use user feedback, promote recovery and inclusion, and support learners through supervision and education within a collaborative NHS environment.

Qualifications

  • Proven risk assessment ability and understanding of CQC requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; compassionate, motivated leadership.
  • Experience supervising and developing multi-disciplinary teams; supporting learner education.
  • Knowledge of national health policies and mental health legislation.
  • Commitment to safeguarding high standards of care and service improvement.
  • Experience in partnership working with statutory agencies at a management level.

Responsibilities

Job description

The post holder will provide operational management responsibility for their area providing effective leadership and lead responsibility for the standards of clinical practice and services. This will include effective management of the multi-disciplinary team and financial budgets. The post holder will effective and safe services which support the key elements of clinical governance and focus on leading the clinical teams to introduce ways of continuous improvement in the quality of their services and safeguarding high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence will flourish., The post holder will ensure that improvements in the planning, implementation and evaluation of care are based on user involvement and feedback from consumer networks and individuals. To promote a model of recovery and social inclusion and facilitate evidence based care. Responsibility for the management of staff in the designated area; ensuring that staff are supervised, appraised, offered advice, and developed to the best potential with educational needs met within the Multi-disciplinary Team, including learners allocated to the wards. Carry out any other duties commensurate with the duties of this post. This is an outline job description and may be subject to change according to the needs of the service, in consultation with the post holder.

  • The candidate will have a high level knowledge of CQC requirements and have a philosophy of the 6 C's of care.
  • Active participation will be required in the training and education of learners allocated to the Mental Health Service, and to encourage integration between the Ward Team and Crisis Services.
  • The successful candidate will deliver the highest quality care for patients with acute mental health issues; with a positive attitude and a commitment to maintain EPUT's excellent customer care.
  • We are looking for people who can bring commitment, innovation , and determination to take forward our service in new and innovative ways; in return we offer training and development of staff, support through regular supervision and appraisal to assist you in setting realistic objectives., Honours Degree in relevant subject / relevant professional qualification, Postgraduate Degree in relevant subject.
  • Formal management qualification., Minimum five years post qualification / post graduate experience.
  • Minimum of three years adult mental health experience.
  • 2 years' experience of working in secure mental health services or with mentally disordered offenders.
  • Experience of working closely and developing relationships and working in partnership with other statutory agencies at a management level., Experience in other NHS or local authority adult services.
  • Experience of working in other statutory or voluntary agencies, In-depth knowledge of adult mental health.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983/2003
