We began as a social landlord providing homes in West Lindsey. Now we provide over 7,000 affordable homes across the East Midlands, Yorkshire and the Humber. Our homes include affordable rent, Shared Ownership, homes for people aged 55 and over, and supported housing. We also offer wider services to support the communities we serve.

Additionally, over 4,000 learners are supported annually in local communities from Sheffield to Mablethorpe, through courses ranging from entry-level qualifications, arts, wellbeing, to employability support, facilitated by Riverside Training and CLIP.

Our tutor roles are diverse. Each tutor has a core subject specialism and is qualified to teach at various levels, providing progression opportunities for learners. Tutors also deliver curricula in life skills, enrichment, wellbeing, and employability, which are integral to our programs.

As a Maths Tutor, your responsibilities may include:

  • Delivering GCSE and Functional Skills Maths to young learners (16-18) and adults
  • Delivering Multiply courses to re-engage adults with maths
  • Developing expertise within your subject area to enhance learner offerings
  • Contributing to curriculum development, bringing innovation and energy to teaching
  • Managing learners' progress from attendance to achievement and progression, including 1-1 support when needed
  • Supporting recruitment efforts and working with the engagement team to meet progression targets
  • Ensuring quality assurance of your teaching to provide excellent service
  • Facilitating observations and involving team members in teaching sessions
  • Planning, preparing, delivering, and evaluating courses
  • Creating lesson plans, schemes of work, and learning materials
  • Maintaining learner records, monitoring progress, and preparing learners for exams or accreditation
  • Building links with partners and employers to create new opportunities
  • Identifying further learning, apprenticeships, or employment opportunities for learners
  • Completing administrative tasks such as enrolment forms and feedback collection

Candidate requirements:

  • Teaching qualification suitable for Post-16 and Adult Learning sectors, or willingness to undertake training (e.g., PGCE/Cert Ed/QTS)
  • L3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent is advantageous
  • Maths qualification at Level 4 or higher, or substantial subject expertise
  • Understanding of engaging underachieving and disengaged young people
  • Willingness to teach beyond primary expertise and adapt delivery to learners’ needs
  • Experience in teaching or training adults
  • Knowledge of teaching principles for adult learners, including planning, assessment, and evaluation
  • Awareness of diverse learning strategies and teaching methods
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
