Job description

Maths Tutor – Year 6

We’re looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Maths Tutor to work with a small group of Year 6 pupils, helping them grow in confidence and ability as they prepare for the transition to secondary school. If you’re a skilled educator who believes in every child’s potential, this could be the perfect role for you.

Contract:Part time – September 2025 start

Salary:£100 - £120 per day

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality maths tuition tailored to individual learning needs
  • Inspire pupils to enjoy maths, boosting their confidence and enthusiasm
  • Plan and implement effective strategies that build core mathematical understanding
  • Create a supportive and positive environment where children feel safe to take risks and make progress
  • Work closely with the Year 6 team and school leaders to track progress and adapt teaching approaches
  • Prepare pupils emotionally and academically for the move to secondary school

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience teaching or tutoring maths, ideally within a primary setting
  • Strong knowledge of the Year 6 curriculum and the expectations of secondary readiness
  • A confident communicator who can engage children with different learning styles and abilities
  • Committed to supporting pupils who may be less confident or need targeted intervention in maths
  • Organised, collaborative, and motivated to make a real impact on outcomes for children
