Position: Maths Teacher
Location: Oldham (OL9)
Start Date: September 2025
Pay Rate: £160–£230 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Ongoing

About the Role:
This role is ideal for a Maths Teacher who thrives in SEN or PRU settings, and who is confident working with students who may present with SEMH needs, learning difficulties, or gaps in prior learning. You’ll work as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality Maths education to Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils in a way that’s both accessible and inspiring.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Maths lessons tailored to individual needs.
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help students build confidence and close learning gaps.
  • Support students with complex behavioural or emotional needs using trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
  • Track academic progress and adjust lesson planning accordingly.
  • Develop positive relationships with pupils, creating a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, behaviour mentors, SENCOs and other professionals.
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews, behaviour plans, and pastoral strategies.
  • Promote high expectations around effort, respect, and personal growth.

About the Provision:
This specialist provision based in Oldham offers a supportive, structured environment for young people who have faced barriers to mainstream education. Staff work closely with students to re-engage them in learning, boost self-esteem, and develop essential life skills.
The most recent Ofsted report (2023) described the setting as a place where “students feel safe, respected, and supported to succeed.”
Inspectors praised the positive relationships between staff and pupils, strong pastoral support, and the team’s commitment to inclusive education.
You’ll be joining a dedicated team that values patience, creativity, and a trauma-informed approach to teaching.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE.
  • Strong subject knowledge and experience teaching Maths at secondary level.
  • Background in SEN, PRU, or alternative provision is essential.
  • Excellent behaviour management and the ability to build trust with vulnerable learners.
  • A reflective, proactive attitude and genuine passion for inclusive education.
  • A current enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).

Why Join Us?
  • A meaningful role where you can help transform lives through education.
  • Competitive daily rate with transparent pay policy.
  • Full support from a dedicated education consultant who understands specialist settings.
  • Access to CPD, wellbeing support, and career development opportunities.
  • Opportunity to secure a long-term or permanent role in a growing provision.
