Job description

Are you a patient, passionate Maths teacher who thrives on helping young people overcome barriers and achieve success?
We are seeking a committed and empathetic Maths Teacher to work 1:1 with students aged 16+ who have Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will play a key role in helping learners build their confidence and attain Functional Skills Maths qualifications, while supporting their transition into apprenticeships, college courses, and employment.

• Deliver personalised 1:1 Maths sessions, focused on Functional Skills (Entry Level to Level 2)

• Build strong, positive relationships with students to support both academic and emotional development

• Develop individualised learning plans in collaboration with SEN specialists

• Monitor and report on progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed

• Promote readiness for real-world settings such as work or further education

• Teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed, or equivalent)

• Experience teaching Functional Skills Maths

• A strong understanding of SEN and differentiated teaching methods

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• A positive, flexible approach to working in a 1:1 environment

• Experience in post-16 education or alternative provisions

• Familiarity with EHCPs and supporting students with complex needs

• Knowledge of vocational pathways and the apprenticeship system

• A supportive and inclusive working environment
