Job summary

The Aurora Group is seeking a dedicated Maths Teacher for Aurora Beeches in Cranborne, Dorset. You will be pivotal in supporting students aged 11-16 with social, emotional, and mental health needs by delivering high-quality Maths lessons. Joining a supportive team, you will also assist in curriculum development, ensure engaging lessons, and foster positive relationships with students.

Qualifications

  • Required teaching qualifications (PGCE, QTS).
  • Ability to teach Entry level 2 & 3, and GCSEs.
  • Experience in a college environment preferred.

Overview and Responsibilities

Maths Teacher – Aurora Beeches

Location: Cranborne, Dorset

Salary: £25,320 - £34,885.60 (M1-M6) actual annual salary

Hours: 32 hours a week, Term Time Only (4 days per week, Monday-Thursday)

AtAurora Beeches in Cranborne, we believe in giving young people, ages 11-16, the tools and opportunities to create the lives they want for themselves. With high-quality teaching, an excellent level of individual support and a range of expert-led, integrated therapy, we support all our young people with a range of needs including Autism and other associated conditions. We can take advantage of our beautiful setting to inspire and create fun experiences to enhance learning and progress.

The main purpose of the role:

We're looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Maths Teacher to join our team and support young people aged 11–16 with social and emotional difficulties, anxiety disorders, and mental health needs. In this role, you’ll deliver engaging and high-quality Maths lessons up to GCSE level, helping students gain the academic and life skills they need for their next steps, whether that’s further education, training, or employment. Our students can display challenging behaviours, so we’re looking for someone patient, resilient, and ready to build strong, supportive relationships.

You’ll collaborate closely with a multi-disciplinary team to create personalised learning plans, set meaningful goals, and contribute to important review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews. Alongside teaching, you'll help shape and develop our curriculum, keeping it fresh, relevant, and tailored to each student's needs.

Skills and Qualifications

Successful candidate qualities:

  • Essential: PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
  • To be able to teach Entry level 2 & 3, and GCSEs in Science and/or Humanities
  • Desirable: Experience of working in a college environment, ideally in specialist education.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording and reviewing students’ progress.
  • Good IT skills and understand of how IT can be used to support learning.
  • Ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative, be well organised, prioritise effectively and achieve results against deadlines.
  • Ability to engage students in positive enabling relationships.
