You will plan and deliver outstanding lessons tailored to each pupil's individual learning journey. You'll also lead targeted interventions and contribute to cross-curricular learning, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to shape a maths curriculum that is accessible, meaningful and impactful.

In this role, you'll enjoy a balance of independence and support. You'll have the freedom to be creative in your teaching while benefitting from a collaborative and experienced multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities:
  • Delivering engaging and differentiated Maths lessons across Key Stages
  • Designing and leading small group and 1:1 intervention sessions
  • Using data and observation to assess, monitor, and report on progress
  • Supporting pupils' personal development, emotional wellbeing and confidence
  • Working collaboratively with other subject teachers and support staff
  • Taking on additional curriculum responsibilities as agreed with the Headteacher
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
Requirements:

You are a passionate, committed Maths teacher who is excited by the opportunity to make a real difference. You believe in every young person's ability to grow - and you know how to adapt your teaching to meet complex needs.

You'll be a reflective practitioner, with the creativity, resilience, and empathy needed to succeed in an SEN environment. Most importantly, you'll be driven by the desire to give every learner the tools and confidence they need to succeed in their own way.

Essential:
  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience or interest in teaching pupils with autism, SEMH, or complex needs
  • Excellent subject knowledge in Maths, and a passion for teaching it creatively
  • A positive, solution-focused mindset and a flexible approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
  • Experience in a specialist or SEN setting
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed or therapeutic practices
  • Knowledge of alternative communication methods

Opening in September 2026, this brand-new school in Guildford is part of the Options Autism group, a leading provider of specialist education individuals with complex needs. The school will support up to 40 pupils aged 11-18, offering a safe, structured, and inclusive environment tailored to meet a wide range of needs.

We are committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and young people. All applicants will be subject to social media checks and successful applicants to a fully enhanced DBS.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you'll receive a competitive salary of up to £45k per annum depending on experience, as well as an exceptional reward package including life assurance, pension scheme, and access to a wide range of health, wellbeing, and insurance benefits.

We believe in better work/life balance - and we're putting wellbeing first. That's why we're proud to be part of a 4-Day Working Week trial, where you can work one day less each week (or equivalent hours), while still receiving your full-time pay.
