Job description
Overview

Be the teacher you always wanted to be - focusing on classroom craft and children, not paperwork!

We are looking for a hardworking, dedicated teacher to work in our growing SEN school to deliver lessons up to and including GCSE. If you are a science teacher we would like a secondary subject of maths at KS3 and vice versa. Full support will be given. We offer class sizes of 6 or less with additional support, a real focus on relationships, classroom craft and great outcomes. The children are generally able but with gaps caused by anxiety-based non-attendance.

Stone Lodge Therapeutic School is an expanding independent SEN school for children aged 11-17 with high functioning ASD and SEMH. It is currently rated "Outstanding" in two areas and "Good" in two others. Our ethos is rooted in our 3 values of care, understanding and ambition which apply to both staff and pupils. Our approach to supporting children is underpinned by therapeutic principles and approaches including PACE.

We strongly believe that by going the extra mile we can transform the lives of vulnerable young people and give them the future they deserve. If you feel that this could be for you, please see our website.

Special school or secondary experience is not essential, but a willingness to learn is. Full training will be given and the school will be very supportive of ambitious staff who wish to progress.

Responsibilities

Deliver lessons up to GCSE in a Special Educational Needs setting with high functioning ASD and SEMH. Work within small classes (6 or fewer) with additional support. Focus on classroom craft and building relationships with pupils, supporting their learning and progress. Collaborate across sites as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

Special school or secondary experience is not essential, but a willingness to learn is required. Full training will be provided. The role offers potential for progression for ambitious staff.

Location & Travel

The position will mainly be based at our new Thrapston site, with working across both Thrapston and Kettering bases expected.
