Job summary

Prospero Teaching in Wingate is seeking dedicated Maths and English Tutors to support students who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education. These young people are not currently accessing mainstream education and require a safe, encouraging learning environment.

You will deliver Maths and English tuition one-to-one or in small groups, develop personalized lesson plans, monitor progress, and complete daily attendance and weekly reports.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering one-to-one or small group tuition in Maths and English.
• Ability to develop personalised lesson plans addressing gaps.
• Experience with disengaged/SEND students is beneficial.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and provide DBS clearance.

Maths and English Tutor - Wingate

Are you a nurturing, patient, and compassionate individual with a passion for supporting students who are disengaged from mainstream education?

Prospero Teaching are seeking dedicated Maths and English Tutors to support students who have been permanently excluded in the Wingate area. These young people are not currently accessing mainstream education as a result of being permanently excluded due to various reasons.

We are looking for Tutors to work with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Permanently Excluded students, covering Maths and English, who can provide a safe, encouraging, and empowering learning environment to re-engage them in their learning journey.

The Opportunity

Many of our young people have not attended school for some time and may have emotional barriers to learning. As a result, we are seeking nurturing Tutors with a patient, flexible approach and a passion for working closely with students to overcome barriers to learning.

Sessions will take place face to face either in a community setting or at the young persons home.

Your role with us

• Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition in Maths and English
• Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps
• Monitor student progress
• Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning
• Complete daily attendance and weekly reports

Role details

• Pay rate up to GBP30 per hour depending on qualification and/or experience
• Up to 6 hours per week per student
• Start date: September 2026
• Location: Wingate
• Duration: ongoing

• Access to CPD accredited courses and training

Eligibility

• Previous experience working with young people with SEND such as young people with ADHD, SEMH and students who have been permanently excluded – this role is great for those with previous experience within a PRU
• Hold the right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
