Job description

Are you a nurturing, patient, and compassionate individual with a passion for supporting challenging students who are disengaged from mainstream education?

Prospero Teaching are seeking a dedicated a PEX Tutor in Alnwick who has QTS or QTLS, with experience supporting students who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education due to challenging behaviour, complex SEN needs and various other reasons.

This young person is at the beginning of their educational journey and is looking for a PEX Tutor who can provide a safe, encouraging, and empowering learning environment.

Student details:
Age: 13
Location: within the student's home, NE66 area
Hours: 10 hours per week, term time hours
Subjects: Maths, English and PSHE
SEN: ADHD, ASD, global learning delay
Interests: Sports
Duration: Until the pupil can reintegrate into a new school placement

What would your role look like:
As a Tutor, you must be able to create, plan and deliver 1:1 tailored lesson to bridge gaps in pupils education and boost attainment levels.
In this role, you would need to create tailored learning plans to the individual student, risk assessments and complete daily/weekly attendance reports, documenting your progress with the student, as well as any challenges.
You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience of working with children in a therapeutic way.

One of your aims will be:
To support and re-engage a pupil in their learning
Offer structure back into their daily routine
Continue their educational development

Role details:
Pay rate up to GBP30 per hour depending on qualification and/or experience
Up to 15 hours per week per student
Start date: September 2025
Location: Newcastle
Duration: ongoing

To be eligible for the PEX Tutor role, you need:
You need to have at least 6 months previous experience teaching/supporting young people. Trauma informed practice experience preferred
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered on the update service or be willing to process a new application
Hold the right to work in the UK
QTS/QTLS qualification
