Maths Academic Mentor

Start Date: September 2025

This role involves working with mainstream secondary school students aged 11-16 years.

You will conduct sessions with small groups of 1:3 students, supporting Years 7-11 in Maths. These sessions allow for individual targets and guidance, with pupils reviewed half-termly to ensure access to high-quality literacy and numeracy support.

The school is a vibrant and caring community that fosters a love of learning and values each student. It maintains high expectations and provides a friendly, stimulating environment where students can succeed and reach their full potential.

The successful candidate will hold a degree and have tutoring experience or be confident in delivering Maths interventions.

Roles & Responsibilities include:

  1. Delivering tailored programmes that complement classwork, learning objectives, and assessment plans in collaboration with teachers.
  2. Working 1-1 or in small groups with students who are falling behind to help them prepare for exams.
  3. Adapting content, style, and format of tuition to maximize effectiveness.
  4. Building strong relationships with pupils and school contacts through sessions, reviews, progress reports, and feedback.

Candidate Requirements:

Applicants should have strong subject knowledge, be able to plan and communicate effectively in small group or 1:1 settings, be flexible, and committed to delivering engaging and developmental sessions.

Pay rates include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, with potential for permanence later.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding children and will undertake checks in line with DfE guidance, including online searches and DBS checks. Free safeguarding and Prevent Duty training is provided. All candidates must have an enhanced DBS check or be registered with the DBS Update Service.
