Job description

Mathematics Teacher - South West London - September 2025

Full time. Permanent. Suitable for experienced teachers and ECTs

A forward-thinking and high-achieving secondary school in South West London is looking to appoint a Mathematics Teacher for a September 2025 start. This is a full time, permanent post, open to Early Career Teachers and experienced educators who are passionate about helping young people thrive through the power of mathematics.

You'll be joining a thriving and well-resourced maths faculty where the curriculum is ambitious, expertly sequenced and delivered through collaborative planning. Maths teachers work together to craft lessons that stretch students' problem-solving, reasoning and fluency skills across Key Stages 3 and 4, with many students continuing into Key Stage 5.

What makes this maths department special?

The mathematics department is a cornerstone of the school's academic success. Students consistently achieve strong GCSE outcomes and the subject enjoys high uptake at A Level. Teachers are given protected time for collaborative planning and subject-specific CPD. The department uses a mastery-led approach with a focus on conceptual understanding and structured mathematical thinking.

Schemes of learning are detailed and regularly reviewed, allowing teachers to focus on excellent delivery rather than workload-heavy preparation. The team values academic rigour, reflective practice and innovative pedagogy underpinned by research. Maths classrooms are fully equipped, and staff are supported by an experienced Head of Department and Lead Practitioner.

Why join this school?

Set on a large and leafy campus in South West London, the school offers excellent facilities, including specialist maths suites, a dedicated Sixth Form centre and access to ongoing professional learning. It is a calm and purposeful place to work, with a clear behaviour policy, strong staff voice and a leadership team that prioritises both academic excellence and staff wellbeing.

Staff at the school enjoy:

  • A clear focus on teaching and learning, not admin
  • Whole-school consistency on behaviour and routines
  • On-site wellbeing support and access to professional coaching
  • Weekly CPD built into the timetable
  • Opportunities for career progression within and beyond the department

This Mathematics Teacher role would suit someone who:

  • Has QTS and experience teaching maths at Key Stage 3 and GCSE (A Level experience welcomed)
  • Is excited by collaborative planning, curriculum design and subject leadership opportunities
  • Believes in a structured, knowledge-rich maths curriculum with real-world relevance
  • Can inspire learners of all abilities and build a love of mathematics in the classroom
  • Is either a talented ECT or a skilled teacher looking for new energy and growth
