Job summary

Hillmorton High School in Christchurch invites applications for a full-time Mathematics Teacher for Years 7–15 on a fixed-term basis from 28 January 2027 to 29 July 2027 (Parental Leave).

The role requires NZ registration, a certificated teaching qualification, and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive pedagogy. The successful candidate will also support a co-curricular programme.

Mathematics and statistics

Hillmorton High School is a diverse urban coeducational school situated in the South-West of Christchurch. The school is a fast-growing Year 7–13 school with dedicated middle and senior schools. We have a roll of around 1400 and with further building works underway, the roll is expected to increase in the next few years. We provide students with a caring and supportive environment, to help them achieve academic excellence, leadership skills and a love of learning.

We are seeking a kaiako who is dedicated to helping ākonga master and enjoy mathematics. Persistence in supporting all ākonga to flourish in their mathematical learning journeys, along with a belief that everyone can achieve at the highest levels is crucial.

A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the understanding and ability to teach using culturally responsive and relational pedagogy is essential.

The successful applicant must be a NZ registered teacher and be willing to commit to our co-curricular programme also.
