Job description

Locations:

  • Torfaen Learning Zone (Cwmbran)/Usk Campus
  • Crosskeys Campus
  • City of Newport Campus
  • Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone (Ebbw Vale)

Hours:

  • 2 x 30 hours per week (Part Time) at Torfaen Learning Zone and Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone
  • 1 x 37 hours per week (Full Time) at Crosskeys Campus
  • 2 x 37 hours per week (Full Time) at City of Newport Campus

We are seeking excellent teachers with passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to deliver GCSE Mathematics, Essential Skills Application of Number, and Agored qualifications to post-16 learners starting September 2025.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally, an honours degree in Mathematics or a related subject (not essential)
  • A level in Mathematics (A-C)
  • PGCE/Cert. Ed.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage a challenging workload
  • Motivated with good rapport-building skills
  • Work closely with the Leader of Learning – Mathematics
  • Engage with curriculum staff on learner progress

Selection process includes a 45-minute micro-teach, assessment, and formal interview. Basic Welsh language skills (or willingness to learn) are desirable.

The role requires a teaching qualification or willingness to attain one, and registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC). Employment is subject to a satisfactory DBS check and EWC registration, with candidates responsible for the costs.
