Thisis an exciting opportunity for driven and motivated Maternity Care Assistantsto join our Maternity Team working in the Antenatal Clinic Outpatients unit atour Darlington site.

Youwill be supported and welcomed into your role and we are keen to develop ourstaff to deliver exceptional care to the families of County Durham andDarlington.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a enthusiastic and hardworking Maternity Support Worker who is committed and passionate in providingcare during pregnancy, birth and postnatally in a hospital setting. Thisimportant role will include caring for women, birthing people and theirfamilies throughout the antenatal and postnatal period and will include workingalongside the midwifery team to provide education, support and care to mums andbabies in the Antenatal Clinic setting. Safety of our women and babies isparamount, and so we are looking for caring, compassionate, and enthusiasticstaff members to join our Team.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

You will also be involved in parent educationand discussions on health promotion, with a strong focus on the Public HealthAgenda.

Keyskills include to being a good team player, committed, kind, approachable,dependable and reliable. Practical skills would include being able to takemanual Blood Pressures and venepuncture skills. An understanding of the keypublic health messages around smoking, health lifestyle in pregnancy and infantfeeding knowledge would be desirable.

Experience
  • Experience in a Health Care setting.
  • Maternity or neonatal experience or wide reading around key themes in maternity.
Qualifications
  • Care Certificate or willingness to complete within the first 6 months of commencement in post.
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Previous experience in a maternity setting.
  • HCA experience within an NHS setting.
  • Ability to carry out clinical observations, recognising and reporting deviations from the norm.
