The role of the Maternity Support Worker is to work in partnership with the midwife, providing practical, social, and emotional support to mothers and their families. The post holder will undertake baseline observations, phlebotomy, breastfeeding support, and provide clinical and clerical support within the department.
They will also offer health advice and information to mothers to support the care of both mother and newborn. The department requires deployment to other clinical areas as needed to support smooth patient flow within the maternity unit.
Roles are available in hospital settings, with shifts including nights, weekends, and days.

We have exciting opportunities for Maternity Support Workers to join our maternity team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. Positions are available in hospital settings.
Candidates must have completed a Maternity Support Worker/Senior Nursing Assistant apprenticeship or an equivalent program and have experience working as an MSW in a UK maternity unit/hospital. A certificate of completion must be presented at interview.
You must be proficient in phlebotomy, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature observations. MSWs should demonstrate training in breastfeeding advice per the Baby Friendly Initiative. Training will be provided to Nursing Assistants who meet all other criteria.
Mandatory updates are provided annually to develop skills in caring for maternity patients, focusing on pregnancy, labor, postpartum, breastfeeding support, and early parenting.

Desirable: Healthcare support experience in Paediatrics or Women's Health.
Desirable: Full Care certificate, GCSE C/4 in English and Maths.
