An exciting opportunity exists for a Matron in our maternity unit, focusing on leadership and patient care. The role involves ensuring clinical excellence, managing teams, and implementing innovative practices to improve patient experiences. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in maternity care and effective staff management skills.
The Matron will provide leadership and responsibility for the following key areas in Maternity and work closely with the Matron for Intrapartum care and community services to deliver
You will be expected to deliver clinical excellence and demonstrate a strong commitment to multi-professional working. A willingness to learn and work within a constantly changing environment is necessary together with the ability to remain calm under pressure.The role requires specialist knowledge and experience in high risk and normalising patient experience and innovations for improving patient experience, as well as excellent organisational and communication skills.
Ensure a woman-centred approach throughout the maternity pathway.
Ensure appropriate provision and care for the management of resources for midwifery and support staff, consumables, and environment.
Lead with credibility and authority and be revered for high standards of patient care.

Lead on ensuring that inpatient related maternity performance targets and quality standards are met
Be a strong advocate for excellent patient care so that this will be fundamental to all clinical decisions within the maternity service
Positively seek improvements to practice and constructively challenge poor practice / behaviour
Champion the spread of innovation between departments / wards
