Job description

BHRUT maternity department is looking to recruit enthusiastic band 3 maternity support workers with previous experience in the care industry. You will support midwives, nurses, nursery nurses, and doctors to provide care to women and babies in the department. The successful candidate will be part of the maternity unit rotation, working in all clinical areas, including antenatal clinics, theatres, inpatient wards, and the labour ward. You should have experience working with the public, a good standard of numeracy and literacy, and a flexible approach to work in any maternity area.

Your main roles and responsibilities, while working alongside registered healthcare professionals, will be to assist in providing care to women and their babies during the ante-natal, delivery, and postnatal periods.

The Maternity Support Worker will assist in providing care to women and babies, supporting midwives during all stages, working autonomously within guidelines, and undertaking routine clerical duties to ensure the smooth running of the midwifery team. They will be proactive in monitoring and anticipating patients' needs within the scope of the job description.

Our facilities include the Women's Health Hub in Ilford, an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch, and Community Diagnostic Centres at Barking Community Hospital and St Georges Health and Wellbeing Hub in Hornchurch. These centres operate 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing an additional 88,000 scans annually.
