Job description

This is a patient-facing role, and the successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and manage their workload effectively, as you will be working in a busy maternity department. Although your work will be guided, you must be able to work independently, using your own initiative, and respond quickly and efficiently. This role requires an empathetic nature, as you will encounter anxious patients.

As a focused individual, you will need to be organized, prioritize your workload, and possess excellent communication skills. You should be a creative thinker and multitasker, capable of problem-solving and meeting tight deadlines. The ability to work as part of a friendly and supportive team to achieve common goals is essential.

  • Action appointments from the worklist.
  • Process appointment requests on the electronic database from clinicians and consultants.
  • Change, cancel, or amend appointments as required, following booking rules.
  • Ensure clinics are appropriately utilized.
  • Expedite referrals.
  • Manage electronic worklists.
  • Add, end, and reopen referrals on the electronic database.
  • Escalate issues to the appropriate manager or clinician.
  • Meet and greet patients, asking relevant screening questions.
  • Handle enquiries via telephone, email, text, or face-to-face from internal and external parties.
