Job description

Our client, as part of their ongoing expansion within this department, is looking for a Test Engineer to focus on physical testing projects. The role will be lab-based and will involve leading test work programs to meet client-driven workflow requirements. Core duties of the role will include:

1. Developing test worksheets to ensure efficient testing on both route and specialist test areas
2. Overseeing junior members of staff to perform test activities on a project basis to ensure that customer deadlines are met
3. Accurately reporting test results data on the systems
4. Acting as a backup contact to customers in the absence of more senior lab-based staff
5. Communicating with internal project managers throughout the process, providing test reports and relevant commentary
6. Taking on your fair share of lab-based housekeeping activities
7. Ensuring quality standards, health and safety, etc.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following background:

1. Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area such as physics, maths, materials engineering, etc.
2. Ideally 3 years+ experience in a similar test lab environment. It would be expected that people with advanced degrees would still have at least 12 months in a commercial lab.
3. Strong analytical skills, a quality focus, and an eye for detail
4. Ability to learn the nuances of their testing operation quickly
