Job summary

Tiro is offering a Level 3 Materials Technician apprenticeship based in London. The role combines laboratory work and construction-site testing, with hands-on experience alongside skilled technicians.

You’ll learn tests, data analysis, and how to operate testing equipment, spending around 20 months on day-to-day duties and structured training delivered in the workplace. This paid apprenticeship includes off-the-job training and mentoring to build practical skills for a career in materials

Qualifications

• Must be 18 or over.
• Not be in full-time education.
• Have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Apprenticeships are designed to provide new knowledge, skills and behaviours, so applicants should not already hold a Level 3, degree or higher qualification in a closely related subject, or have significant experience in the same field.

Responsibilities

• Get hands-on with materials testing in laboratory and on construction sites, following recognised testing methods.
• Learn how specialist testing equipment is used and perform basic equipment checks.
• Prepare and manage samples for testing and record results accurately.
• Build knowledge of quality and compliance in testing procedures and standards.
• Experience both lab and site-based work to gain a broad range of practical skills.
• Learn from experienced technicians and develop confidence to carry out testing independently.
