Main duties of the job

The Materials Supervisor is responsible for the provision of the UEL Materials Management Service within UEL managed areas. This role will be based within the Hampshire Orthopaedic Centre (HOC) which is located within Winchester Hospital. However, the role maybe required to cover tasks within other UEL managed locations (in line with JD banding).

Physical requirements of the post
  • Lifting and handling boxes of varying shapes, sizes and weights (up to 20kgs)
  • Manoeuvre cages of goods (up to 180kgs) safely through busy corridors from Stores area to ward or department.
Qualifications / training required
  • General standard of education including GCSE in English and Maths
  • Basic level experience of Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
  • Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations (CIPS)/NVQ3 in Business Administration, or similar in depth experience of Materials Management principles and process including stock control, ordering, invoicing and customer care skills.
Previous or relevant experience necessary
  • Experience of working in an operational environment, contributing to operational objectives.
  • Experience with dealing with staff of all levels
