A leading Life Sciences company based on the Oxford Science Park, requires a Materials Scientist or R&D Scientist to to join their development team in a hands-on laboratory-based role.

The Role
Working within a state of the art facility as part of a friendly team, the Materials Scientist / R&D Scientist will be primarily responsible for the testing and characterisation of hydrogels used in my client’s medical devices, developing, validatingand documenting test methods in accordance with relevant standards.ThisMaterials Scientist / R&D Scientist position would be ideal for either a recent graduate, or aMaterials Scientist / R&D Scientist with a couple of years’ commercial experience.

What’s required from the Materials Scientist / R&D Scientist?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry orBiomedical Science
  • Good laboratory skills – gainedeither commercially or through academia –with experience in hydrogel synthesis, characterisation, or analysis advantageous
  • Familiarity with mechanical testing, rheology, HPLC and/or materials characterisation would also be of benefit, as would any experience working in cleanroom environmentsand an understandingof GMP practices
