Job summary

TemplarFox Consultancy in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Materials Scientist with SEM/EDX and FTIR expertise to support analytical service development for multinational clients.

You will act as the SEM/EDX and FTIR specialist, handling diverse sample matrices, troubleshooting instruments, and delivering high-quality reports while maintaining strong client communication and teamwork within a fast-growing consultancy.

Qualifications

• Degree to PhD in physical chemistry or materials science preferred.
• 5 years' hands-on experience with SEM, SEM/EDX and FTIR instrumentation.
• Ability to work in a team and meet deadlines.
• Excellent report writing and client communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as subject matter expert for SEM, SEM/EDX and FTIR.
• Handle and prepare diverse sample matrices.
• Troubleshoot SEM, SEM/EDX and FTIR instruments.
• Interpolate samples and data for SEM and FTIR analyses.
• Produce high-quality reports and communicate with clients.

Job description

My client continues to grow and is a highly specialised independent analytical service provider servicing a wide range of multinational companies across all sectors. The current position has arisen within the Spectroscopy function for an experienced Materials scientist with Scanning electron Microscope (SEM), SEM/EDX and FTIR to support the service and development of client projects.

The role of Material Scientist will be involved in

• Matter expert for Scanning electron Microscope (SEM), SEM/EDX and FTIR microscope
• Experienced at handling and preparing a wide variety of sample matrices
• Ability to perform hands on troubleshooting with Scanning electron Microscope (SEM), SEM/EDX
• Expert at sample and data interpolation - Scanning electron Microscope (SEM), FTIR, FTIR Microscope
• Hands on for instrument troubleshooting
• Excellent report writing skills
• Strong communication skills with internal and external clients

To be considered for this opportunity you must

• Ideally Degree to/or Phd in physical chemistry or materials science of equivalent
• 5 years at operating and using Scanning electron Microscope (SEM), SEM/EDX and FTIR instruments
• Ability to work within a team, analytical experience and how you meet workload deadlines.
• You will be required to deliver work to a high quality, working efficiently and within time and be able to work without supervision.
• A positive approach to new methods, equipment and problem solving are required.
• A number of years solving industry analytical problems within legal, manufacturing or development.
