Location - Lode Ln, Solihull B92 8NW, with some travel to Wolverhampton, Solihull, Castle Brom, Gaydon, and Whitley

Hybrid role, WFH alongside requirement to visit all JLR UK sites (1-2 days per week on site)

As the Materials Planner, you will be responsible for understanding the client’s contract details, objectives, key performance metrics, opportunity identification, and program pipeline implementation. Programs include sourcing strategies for current and future projects and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

You will collaborate closely with Operations and the Global Procurement Management Teams to ensure each project is delivered on time and within scope. You will analyze client data to ensure spend is directed to the correct suppliers and categories, securing appropriate solutions in terms of lead time, price, and savings opportunities.

You will actively lead in managing internal and customer relationships, visualizing progress, and mitigating risks through regular (daily/weekly/monthly) reviews and reporting.

What you will be doing:

  • Schedule the supply of materials/components to meet production and project requirements, managing lead times, and implementing mitigation and preventative actions.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate processes for material delivery from suppliers to delivery points.
  • Work with key stakeholders to assess volume requirements against planning assumptions (safety stock levels).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas for enhancement.
  • Assist in inventory checks to ensure accuracy and monitor levels against targets.
  • Communicate activities and measurable outcomes across teams.
  • Collaborate with Stores Operations Managers, Client Service Managers, and Strategic Partner Managers to meet service goals.
  • Act as an escalation point for client issues and resolutions.
  • Manage client relationships at middle/senior levels, presenting performance and corrective actions confidently.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build long-term client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to interpret reports into actionable insights.
  • Resilience and strength to handle demanding leadership and stakeholder groups.
  • Technical background in Maintenance, Repair, and Operating Materials is preferred, with knowledge of M.R.P., JIT, and related systems.
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
  • Strong negotiation, planning, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of vendor and client contracts.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across multiple sites.
  • Strategic thinking mindset.
