A leading engineering company is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer based in Coventry. This role involves developing and improving materials processes, managing technical projects, and ensuring quality and safety within manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a background in materials engineering, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. This position requires strong communication and collaboration skills, and involves working both independently and as part of a team.
Role Overview
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions, with a focus on materials processes. You will manage technical projects from concept to delivery, continuously improving manufacturing methods and supporting the development of future capabilities. This is a primarily on-site role based at our Coventry facility, with occasional travel to partner sites. Flexibility may be required depending on project needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for:
Develop materials methods and sequences.
Provide lead-time and cost estimates for job requests.
Creating materials methods and sequences.
Creating PFMEAs, process flow charts and control plans.
Resolve non-conformances to ensure products meet specification.
Has responsibility to continuously improve manufacturing methods to reduce lead-time, reduce cost and minimise the chance of non-conformance.
Develop and coach Technicians with processes within department.
Develop materials processes to deliver the customer deliverables.
Sharing lessons learned and best practices with the engineering teams.
Produce reports/certificates/documents to an agreed format.
Creation of new processes for new materials as and when required.
Creation of DoEs as and when required.
CI of processes and capability to support project needs.
Collaborating with customers to optimise designs for inspection to ensure material analysis methods are generated in line with quality requirements.
Leading the design and improvement of manufacturing processes considering SQCD (Safety, Quality, Cost & Delivery).
Conducting root cause analysis and providing detailed reports were necessary for material properties.
Person Specification
We are looking for a candidate who is/has:
Background: Materials discipline, demonstrated through relevant experience and/or qualifications in Engineering, Industrial, or Manufacturing fields.
Practical experience in material analysis environment including metallurgical analysis.
Operational knowledge of material analysis processes is essential.
Metallurgical knowledge to understand properties of metals and alloys.
Carry out material analysis duties to meet program demand and deliver continuous improvement in product quality.
Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to identify and troubleshoot problems in materials processes is crucial.
Continuous Improvement: Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies and tools to recommend process improvements that improve overall system efficiency.
Teamwork: Able to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with a positive attitude.
Collaboration: Ability to network effectively with a commitment to working collaboratively and recognizing the contributions of others, with a “One MTC” mindset throughout project lifecycles.
Workload Management: Capable of managing your own workload within a team.
Pragmatic hands-on experience, providing problem solving approach and who is willing to physically participate in completion of work when required.
Adaptability: Comfortable with changing priorities with flexibility in approach to accommodate maturing requirements.
Quality: Ensure relevant quality processes are followed and facilitate and support internal and external audits.
Safety Awareness: Able to create safe work systems and manage a safe working environment and challenge unsafe practices.
