Materials Management Officer

A vacancy has arisen for a Materials Management Officer, based within the Procurement Department. The post-holders will be employed and managed by Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will be required to provide an efficient, cost effective, timely and courteous Materials Management service to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Sheffield Children's NHS Trust. They will also manage the day to day Materials Management Service for dedicated allocated areas within the Trusts. The posts cover a range of tasks, which require the exercise of initiative.

Main duties of the job

Operating within broad procedural guidelines and working to timetables the objective for this post holder is to ensure timely and effectively managed stock systems at Ward and Departmental level. A high degree of independent judgement is required as much of the working day is spent at ward level working on own initiative.

The post holder will undertake regular stock reviews with the appointed ward/ departmental lead, Supply Chain evaluations, using system based reports, product rationalisation and cost effective initiatives, in line with Procurement Departments procedures and protocol working at all times, and demonstrating good awareness of, the Trusts statutory policies. This role is constantly developing in line with Materials Management initiatives. A high degree of mental agility is required to perform this role.
