This role is customer facing and supporting bothprocurement and clinical colleagues. Reporting into the Materials ManagementSupervisor, you will be responsible for the provision of a Materials Managementservice to clinical areas.This is one of the more manual roles withinSupplies as it involves moving/handling of cages, pushing/pulling-you'll getyour steps in! As well as some office based work. Attention to detail'skey.This is a busy area so you will need to be organised and show strongconfident communication skills when working with end users especially whenurgent orders are needed. You need to be physically fit, this job willinvolve manual handling, including lifting. You need to be adaptable tochange, sometimes at short notice. Accountability is key in this role-youwill be given responsibility for your own wards, you will build a rapportwith ward colleagues and be their main point of contact. Ensure stock ismaintained at the appropriate levels using hand held data capture devices.Distribution of goods as required to each location, putting away stock andmanaging store rooms to agreed standards. Supporting the end user is ourpriority-the patient.
Thisrole is based within St James Hospital, you may be face to face withSurgeons/Clinicians urgently requiring very specific medical products, sopeople management skills are key. You will be working directly with otherMaterials Management Assistants but you will be part of a much bigger teamacross the Supplies & Procurement as a whole. There are manyopportunities and pathways for career progression and plenty of trainingcourses offered. This role is operational, so on site 5 day a week (Mon-Friday),there is no availability for hybrid working, so if you're looking to leaveyour laptop on the sofa and be hands-on, in a busy environment, then this isfor you!

Thisrole is Monday-Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm on site at St James University Hospital,Leeds.
TheSupplies department has different areas throughout the Trust and the mainaspect of the Materials Management team is to provide stock items towards/clinical areas. It is essentially Inventory/Stock Management.'Supplies' sits within the Procurement Department, which includes Contracting(Clinical & Non-Clinical), Purchase to Pay Team, Supply Chain, Logisticsand Warehousing, Digital Information Technology Contracting. Providesa comprehensive interface for customers who receive a Materials Managementservice.
Tomanage the administrative support required for each of the Supplies IT System
Theposition forms part of a team of seven Whole Time Equivalents (WTE),providing a Materials Management service for a range of medical andnon-medical goods.
Whilstthere is no direct budget management the post holder will be expected tounderstand the Trusts budgeting process and the allocation of costmechanism.
Thedepartment is targeted with cash releasing targets in excess of £2m per annumand the post holder will be expected to significantly contribute in meetingthis target.
Itis expected that a significant reduction in the levels of inventory that theTrust currently holds can be achieved through a collaborative approachbetween purchasing and materials management.The post holder will work closely with the Materials ManagementSupervisor to achieve this goal.
Toparticipate in meetings with clinical staff, for regular reviews and tosupply urgent medical products/data, when required.
Experienceof working within a Materials Management department, ideally within acustomer facing service environment.
Knowledgeand experience of professional procurement principles and associated ITsystems, including management of information systems, data capture devicesand bar code technology.
Knowledgeof receipting process and Materials Management theory, including stockcontrol, delivery, ordering / invoicing options and Customer Care.
Theability to work as both a team member and alone within clearly definedprocedures. Frequently using own initiative on routine decisions, and toliaise with colleagues and customers at all levels.
Excellentcommunication skills, particularly orally, and the ability to deal withcustomers courteously and effectively within a hospital environment.
Understandingof customer requirements that are particular to the Healthcare Industry.
Abilityto recognise the issues which influence the management of the total supplychain is essential
Demonstratesevidence of continual development and training, particularly working towardsrelevant NVQs and CIPS is desirable.
Willingnessto undertake further training and development, either internally orexternally, is essential in accordance with the departments accreditation tothe Investors in People standard. In addition, to undertake all mandatorytraining required for the role, particularly attending refresher training onan annual basis.
Goodunderstanding of Supply Chain Management, and the critical areas to considerwhen determining the appropriate supply route, analysing financial andpurchasing options for requisitions received.
