Job summary

A leading automotive manufacturer is seeking a Materials Handling Technician for a 12-month contract to ensure parts compliance and efficiency. This role involves inspecting and managing vehicle parts as part of a dynamic team focused on automotive excellence.

Qualifications

  • FLT licence preferred but willingness to learn is essential.
  • Practical application experience is required.
  • Experience in a technician or motor trade environment is beneficial.
  • Current Full UK Driving Licence is needed.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicle parts to ensure they meet technical drawings.
  • Liaise with customer groups regarding test parts.
  • Support the Team Leader to achieve departmental targets.
  • Work towards maintaining Health & Safety standards.

Role: Materials Handling Technician


Location: Cranfield


Duration: 12 months


Rate: £17.87 PAYE


About our client:


Our client is a major automotive manufacturer with one of the most productive car plants in Europe, The site produces popular models including hatchbacks and electric vehicles for both the UK and global markets. They play a significant role in the UK automotive sector, supporting thousands of jobs and driving large-scale exports


Key responsibilities :



  • Knowledge of and be able to recognise car parts.

  • Inspect vehicle parts to ensure they adhere to the technical drawings.

  • Understanding of how to use handheld measuring tool (verniers, vernier calipers, feeler gauges etc.) accurately.

  • Be able to accurately describe/report parts that have failed inspection to departments outside of the UK.

  • Receipt of Goods In & Out, to include unloading of test parts in a timely manner.

  • Liaise with Customer groups to advise of test parts arrival.

  • Pick test parts for use by test groups.

  • Support the Team Leader to meet targets to ensure performance of the department.

  • Support section management to maintain Health & Safety

  • Work with the team to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and capture knowledge.


Qualifications, skills, training requirements



  • FLT licence - not essential but willingness to learn is.

  • Practical application experience

  • Experience in the motor trade, technician, Stores/Goods Inwards & Outwards environment

  • Current Full UK Driving
