Job summary

IMT Resourcing Solutions Ltd is seeking a skilled Material Handler / Material Controller to join a busy warehouse and logistics team in a manufacturing environment. You will receive, inspect, store and issue materials, maintain inventory accuracy, and operate Counterbalance FLT equipment to support production schedules.

The role requires a valid Counterbalance FLT licence and experience with ERP/MRP/WMS systems, with a strong focus on stock control and process improvement in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Material Handler, Material Controller, Stores Person or Warehouse Operative.
  • Valid Counterbalance FLT Licence – Essential.
  • Experience operating forklifts in warehouse or manufacturing settings.
  • Strong understanding of stock control and warehouse processes.
  • Experience using ERP, MRP or Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Excellent inventory accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect and book in incoming materials and goods.
  • Ensure materials are identified, labelled and stored correctly.
  • Pick, issue and distribute materials to production areas.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using internal systems.
  • Load and unload deliveries using Counterbalance FLT equipment.
  • Check goods received against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Prepare materials for internal transfers and dispatch.
  • Complete stock movement documentation accurately.
  • Supply production departments with materials per manufacturing schedules.
  • Monitor material availability and highlight shortages.
  • Process material returns and update stock records.
  • Carry out daily FLT inspections and report defects.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment and support improvements.

Material Handler / Material Controller

Double Days - Full time (37.5 Hours) - Monday-Friday - Salary GBP28,400 + 12.5% shift allowance (GBP31,540)

Due to growth, my client is looking for an experienced Material Handler / Material Controller to join their Warehouse and Logistics team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong stock control experience and a valid Counterbalance FLT licence to join a busy manufacturing environment supporting production and material flow.

The Role:
  • Receive, inspect and book in incoming materials and goods
  • Ensure materials are correctly identified, labelled and stored
  • Pick, issue and distribute materials to production areas
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using internal systems
  • Load and unload deliveries using Counterbalance FLT equipment
  • Check goods received against purchase orders and delivery notes
  • Prepare materials for internal transfers and dispatch
  • Complete stock movement documentation accurately
  • Supply production departments with materials in line with manufacturing schedules
  • Monitor material availability and highlight potential shortages
  • Process material returns and update stock records
  • Carry out daily FLT inspections and report any defects
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
  • Support continuous improvement across material flow, stock accuracy and warehouse efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety procedures
The Person:
  • Previous experience as a Material Handler, Material Controller, Stores Person or Warehouse Operative
  • Valid Counterbalance FLT Licence - Essential
  • Previous experience operating forklifts within a warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of stock control and warehouse processes
  • Experience using ERP, MRP or Warehouse Management Systems
  • Strong attention to detail and inventory accuracy
  • Good numerical and organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload within a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and able to work effectively across departments
  • Manufacturing or engineering environment experience - Advantageous
  • Reach Truck Licence - Advantageous
  • PPT Licence - Advantageous
  • Experience with cycle counting and inventory control - Advantageous
