Job summary

GKN Aerospace is seeking a Materials Engineering Technician to join a busy team delivering composite manufacturing engineering capability for operational and developmental programmes aimed at zero defect projects. You will monitor production, support robust process development, and ensure processes meet regulatory and customer requirements.

The role requires practical industry experience with composites and a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 4 (HNC) in a related subject (or equivalent), with evidence of some practical industry experience
• Sound knowledge of composite materials engineering, with knowledge of processing methods and products in composite manufacturing
• Awareness of continuous improvement and Lean management
• Good interpersonal skills with effective team working, and the capability of interfacing professionally with customers and suppliers
• Proven ability to work and to deliver under own initiative
• Ability to manage and to coordinate internal/external customer requirements

Responsibilities

• Monitor production by both test and audit.
• Ensure robust process selection, implementation & control.
• Support delivery deploy robust, repeatable manufacturing process meeting business/customers’ requirements.
• Compile reports for the defined area under guidance of senior staff.
• Prepare documents for process controls (e.g. LTI or process specifications).
• Work as part of a team to improve and develop the process control schedules.

Job description

Based in our thriving manufacturing centre of excellence, the Materials Engineering Technician will join a busy team specialising in providing composite manufacturing engineering capability to operational and developmental programmes to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilising engineering and problem solving skills, whilst being accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials and processes., The post holder will specifically be responsible for the monitoring of production by both test and audit, ensuring robust process selection, implementation & control. They will also support the delivery and deployment of a robust, repeatable and reliable manufacturing process that meets all the requirements of both the Business and our customers.

• Authorised Stamp Holder (MLSR)
• Monitoring the processes, and maintaining the system that is capable of meeting all regulatory, internal and external requirements.
• Compilation of reports for the defined area under guidance of senior staff.
• Compilation of documents for the process controls within the area. e.g. LTI or process specifications
• Working as part of a team to improve and develop the process control schedules.
