Job Description

GKN Aerospace is reimagining air travel: going further, faster, and greener! We are looking for a dedicated Materials Engineer to join our Global Technology Center (GTC) to support the development of materials for new technology applications and design concepts, often in collaboration with research programs and partners.

About us

The Manufacturing and Materials business develops advanced materials, additive manufacturing, engine systems, and digitization solutions. Our work supports all business areas, including OEM manufacturing, space/military, civil repairs, and material solutions.

About the role

You will be responsible for technology maturation and optimizing material properties, including heat treatments and materials selection. You will coordinate testing programs, analyze test results, and support manufacturing process maturation through material characterization, including destructive and non-destructive testing.

Job responsibilities

Qualifications / Skills / Experience
  • MSc in materials science or equivalent
  • Knowledge of titanium and nickel-based superalloys
  • Experience with material characterization techniques (SEM, metallography, fractography)
  • Experience in material testing and research collaboration
  • Proficiency in Swedish and English
Desirable
  • Experience in technology or product development
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (additive manufacturing, welding, casting, forging, machining)
  • Knowledge of post-processing techniques (HIP, heat treatments, NDT)
  • Proven project coordination experience; aerospace experience is a plus
Employment Details

Permanent contract, based in Trollhättan, Sweden, with travel within Sweden and EU expected.
