Materials Coordinator | Oxford | £34,000pa - £37,000pa plus benefits

A world leader in the design and manufacturing of high-tech scientific instrumentation is looking to recruit a Materials Coordinator to manage engineering change, control of subcontract processes, purchasing, and shipping.

If you work within materials and enjoy a variety of related areas, then this role would be a good fit, as it covers engineering change, subcontract processes, purchasing, and shipping. Day-to-day responsibilities of the Materials Coordinator include:

  • Receiving notifications of ECN, processing ECN - adding, amending, removing parts on Methods of Manufacturing and Jobs
  • Identifying components and assemblies requiring subcontract processing, using ERP system
  • Liaising with Production and Stores to prepare components and assemblies
  • Requesting quotations and raising purchase orders for subcontract processes, consolidating requirements to maintain cost effectiveness
  • Arranging shipments to subcontract suppliers
  • Completing jobs upon receipt of shipping route cards
  • Managing incoming and outgoing shipments, including preparation of shipping documents and customs invoices, obtaining quotations, and arranging shipments
  • Liaising with freight forwarders and couriers to clear imports through customs
  • Raising purchase orders on the ERP system and sending them to suppliers
  • Checking order confirmations against requirements and expediting as needed

The successful Materials Controller will need the following experience and skills:

  • Background in an office environment, preferably manufacturing or engineering
  • Ability to cope with changing priorities and work under pressure
  • Experience with an ERP system
  • Experience in procurement within an engineering environment
  • Shipping experience

The company offers a salary of up to £37,000pa, along with benefits including 25 days holiday, contributory pension, life insurance, and a relaxed, flexible working environment.
