Job summary

Manpower (United Kingdom) is seeking a Materials Controller in Stowmarket for a 12-month maternity cover. The role is site-based, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, at £23.99 per hour.

You will manage external warehouse budgets, stock and supplier performance, and ensure materials flow aligns with production plans. Key requirements include warehousing experience, SAP knowledge, and strong IT, numeracy, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE (or equivalent).
• University degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Science is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Create yearly external warehouse and transport budget (approximately £650K).
• Monitor warehouse cost forecast and create action plan to stay in line with budget.
• Monthly external warehouse financial and KPI review.
• Update external warehouse finance tracker from weekly invoice, review costs, warehouse utilisation and balance stock based on reported inbound and outbound figures.
• Review external warehouse KPI and stock reports.
• Submit external warehouse invoices for PO creation and payment.
• External warehouse ASN reviews with all stakeholders.
• ROCK quarterly cycle count task reporting.
• Handover tracker review and frozen horizon dashboard update, reporting filled volume and production loss reasons.
• Place POs as required, adhering to supplier lead times using SAP CDE Production.
• Manage and review requirement plans for Raw and Pack material.
• Oversee planning and scheduling of materials into production site.
• Review MRP outputs to ensure MOQs and inventory targets are adhered to.
• Ensure materials are available for call-off per latest production schedule.
• Follow up on open POs, expedite within lead times, maintain open POs in SAP.
• Work with planning team to ensure supplier capabilities are understood and improvement activities implemented.
• Liaise with production scheduler to ensure material availability for scheduled requirements.
• Maintain and update material data to reflect status in the ERP system.
• Liaise daily with suppliers, carriers and procurement to ensure smooth delivery.
• Report and escape supply issues through correct paths.
• Submit consignment usage figures monthly for Vendors to invoice against.
• Monitor and report supplier performance using V-OTIF scoring system.
• Arrange supplier calls to discuss performance, involving procurement as needed.
• Investigate and resolve invoice queries and authorize payment release to vendors.
• Ensure storage spaces are ready for new/alternative materials when changes are implemented.
• Assist the cycle count team to maintain site stock levels.
• Update storage information and guide safe offload records.
• Ensure all raw material movements from Production areas are recorded in the ERP (SAP).
• Ensure all materials received and dispatched are entered in the ERP to reflect stock accurately.

• Report and escape supply issues through correct paths.
• Submit consignment usage figures monthly for Vendors to invoice against.

• Ensure all materials received and dispatched are entered onto the ERP system correctly so that stocks and inventory are accurately recorded.
