Job description

As part of our continued support to our customer in the space sector, we are looking for Materials and Processes Technicians to join us on a permanent or contract basis. The salary/rate is negotiable based on experience, seniority, etc. The role will be based at our customer’s facility in Stevenage and may involve shift work for which a premium will be paid.

We are now looking for a lab technician to provide cover to the Materials Laboratory within the M&P domain in Stevenage. The main work of this package is to ensure lab KPI’s for various turnaround times are met by performing testing as required, ensuring safety and quality at all times.

This vacancy presents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop and grow their skills and knowledge within a thriving organization. The job holder will be engaged in a wide variety of laboratory activities covering all areas of lab testing work, so lab experience is essential, and clean room experience is highly desirable for this role.

The work will involve space artefacts to ensure their suitability to not contaminate their intended targets.

This is an area of significant growth within Expleo, and we are looking for versatile and dynamic new members to help demonstrate our commitment to grow our space business.

Responsibilities
  • Activities definition:
    • Swab testing of production test pieces
    • Microscope work
    • Basic chemistry testing
    • Basic biological testing
    • Use of typical lab equipment
  • Main Tasks:
    • Assist in testing engineering artefacts for foreign bodies.
    • Contribute to processes and risk assessments being up to date.
    • Work in a safe and tidy manner.
    • Attend weekly meetings (SQCDP) to flag safety, quality, or delivery issues.
  • Deliverables:
    • Complete testing on time with traceability
    • Work order sign-off on electronic reporting systems
    • Write reports for tasks as needed
    • Report failures via relevant quality systems
    • Contribute to health and safety systems and ensure compliance
Qualifications
  • HNC or HND in engineering/maintenance or an apprenticeship in Aerospace/Space or other high-quality production field, or similar laboratory qualifications.
  • Qualifications in the pharmaceutical industry are advantageous.
Essential Skills
  • Understanding of laboratory analyst activities related to main tasks.
  • Experience with testing methodologies, including biological testing.
  • Knowledge of biological testing.
